Privacy
Kindlume is built on a simple principle: your personal notes about the people in your life belong to you and no one else. Every design decision in Kindlume starts from the question of how to keep your data as private and as local as possible. This page gives you a concise overview of how Kindlume handles privacy. Data storage
All data you enter in Kindlume is stored exclusively on your iPhone. Kindlume does not operate any servers, does not use any cloud services, and does not transfer your data anywhere. Your notes, people profiles, reminders, important dates, and timeline entries exist only on your device. If your iPhone is encrypted — which is the default on modern iOS devices — your Kindlume data is additionally protected by device encryption.
No account, no tracking
Kindlume requires no account, no registration, and no email address. There is no user profile, no login, and no way to identify individual users. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising trackers, no crash reporting services that transmit user data, and no form of user tracking. Kindlume does not know who you are, how you use the app, or what content you create. There are no session recordings, no heatmaps, and no conversion funnels. Your interactions with the people who matter to you are a private matter.
No cloud, no messenger
Kindlume does not use any cloud service. There is no Kindlume server where your data could be stored, and the app never sends information to external servers. This applies to all features of the app, including backups and exports. Kindlume is also not a messenger — it does not send messages, does not connect you with other users, and does not facilitate communication between people. The real connection happens outside the app, intentionally and on your terms.
Backups and exports
Kindlume offers password-protected local backups. You decide when to create a backup, where to store it, and what password to encrypt it with. The password is not stored in the app and cannot be recovered if forgotten. The Markdown export is a readable, unencrypted text file for your own use — it is not a replacement for a backup. Neither backups nor exports are uploaded anywhere by Kindlume.
Apple StoreKit
If you purchase Kindlume Plus, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Kindlume does not receive your payment data or personal financial information. Apple shares only the information necessary to provide the purchased feature, such as a purchase confirmation. For details on Apple's data processing, refer to Apple's privacy policy.
Deleting data
You can delete individual entries directly in the app, or remove all data at once through the app's settings. Alternatively, deleting the app from your iPhone removes all associated data completely. Since Kindlume stores nothing on external servers, there is nothing to delete elsewhere — once data is removed from your device, it exists nowhere else.
